The levels of estradiol, progesterone and gonadotropins were determined by radioimmunoassay in 8 healthy women, aging 18-22 years, with histories of regular menstruation. Blood specimens were taken from antecubital vein on 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st day of menstrual cycle.
The results show, that the concentration of estradiol increased on 14th day and progesterone on 21st day. The peak of LH was 14th day.
From the physiological point of view, the rapid fluctuations in hormone levels confirm that the least daily sampling is required to monitor ovarian function satisfactory.
