Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences

Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) [formerly known as Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences] is a top-tier open access medical science journal published by the ID Design 2012/DOOEL Skopje, Naroden Front No. 13/45, 1000 Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. OAMJMS is an international, modern, general medical journal covering all areas in the medical sciences, from basic studies to large clinical trials and cost-effectiveness analyses. We publish mostly human studies that substantially enhance our understanding of disease epidemiology, etiology, and physiology; the development of prognostic and diagnostic technologies; trials that test the efficacy of specific interventions and those that compare different treatments; and systematic reviews. We aim to promote translation of basic research into clinical investigation, and of clinical evidence into practice. We publish occasional studies in animal models when they report outstanding research findings that are highly clinically relevant. Our audience is the international medical community as well as educators, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and interested members of the public around the world. OAMJMS is published quarterly online version.

OAMJMS was included in Europe PMC

Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) was included in Europe PMC (http://europepmc.org/search?page=1&query=JOURNAL:%22Open+Access+Macedonian+Journal+of+Medical+Sciences%22&restrict=All+results).

The core mission of Europe PMC (http://europepmc.org) is to build open, full-text scientific literature resources and support innovation by engaging users, enabling contributors and integrating related research data.

Europe PMC does this primarily by providing access and adding value to over 29 million abstracts and 3 million full-text articles. Europe PMC is a partner in PMC International (PMCi), along with PMC USA and PMC Canada (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/about/pmci/), which means that full-text content is shared by and available from any of these three nodes. The main Europe PMC database is hosted at EMBL-EBI, where this core full-text collection is extended with all PubMed abstracts, selected Agricola abstracts (http://www.ntis.gov/products/agricola.aspx), international patents from the European Patent Office and abstracts from several other smaller sources.

I hope this information will be recognized as an improvement of the quality of the published papers in OAMJMS (http://www.id-press.eu/mjms/index).

We hope that you will select Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences as the outlet for your work and look forward to your next submission.

Rejection experiences

The number of researchers participating in SciRev keeps growing. There are already over 3000 peer review experiences available at our website that can be used to compare the performance of journals.

We are very happy with this achievement. However, we observe an over-representation of reviews of accepted papers. Given that over half of journal submissions ends in a rejection, this might give a somewhat distorted view of reality.

To paint a more realistic picture, we invite you to share one or more rejection experiences at SciRev.

You can do so at www.scirev.sc by searching for the journal and clicking on the green “submit review” button. The only information you need are the dates of (re)submission and of the editor's decision(s).

By sharing our experiences, we can help each other find an effective journal to publish our work.

Kind regards,
Janine Huisman & Jeroen Smits

OAMJMS included in PubMed Central database

With great pleasure, I would like to inform you that Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) was included in the PubMed Central database (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/journals/2987/).  PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM). In keeping with NLM’s legislative mandate to collect and preserve the biomedical literature, PMC serves as a digital counterpart to NLM’s extensive print journal collection. Launched in February 2000, PMC was developed and is managed by NLM’s National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
